Designed for coastal patrol, the Auxilia class corvettes are well-equipped for anti-submarine, mine warfare and anti-mine warfare, while equipped enough to defend itself from air threats and surface threats.
There are two flights of Auxilia class corvettes. The first flight was equipped sufficiently for its anti-submarine, mine warfare and anti-mine warfare role, but developments over the years have spurred the need for greater capability. As a result, the flight II Auxilia II class was born. Now equipped with a 8 cell Byzantine UVLS which allows it carry as many as 8 S-500-C missiles per cell. It will carry a smaller version of the SURTASS II sonar, the SURTASS II-M sonar.
